New position, new responsibilities
In the past year, there has been a lot of mobility in my work life, moving from country to country. Just starting this February, I am delighted to take on a new position as the research scientist, leading the ehology and welfare group at the Prairie Swine Centre in Saskatchewan, Canada. This is the transition from a postdoctoral researcher to a permanent researcher role which means more responsibilities towards the animals and people under my care. It is also a new challenge to work in a different environment, learning all about the academic ecosystem, animal production, governance, and local culture here. It is important step as in a sense North America is a connection between Europe with the rest of the world, since animal production systems are similar to that in Asia. Understanding this is where impact can be made, I hope to be able to continue my existing research and also expand work that would be beneficial to making some positive changes happen for the people and animals here. 🐖🐷🐽
